Realistic AEG

Hey Guys & Gals

Im trying to find if there are other options for AEG's that are realistic. What i am looking for in an AEG is recoil, the bolt physically slides back, functioning slide and the bolt holds open/mechanical cut off when the mag runs dry. So far i have found the PTW and the TM Recoil Shock series to do all these things. Both of which are high in the price category, when i look for an alternative i get clubbed over the head with the Magpul PTS RM4 Scout which doesn't have all the features. Is there other alternatives that have the features i want or am i stuck with paying the price for a TM?

then you mean GBBR

Strelok May 24th, 2015 16:12

Did you actually need two threads for this?

But yeah, what you've said kinda points to a GBBR. There really isn't much in the market that incorporates those features than what you've already mentioned.

BOLT m4

localfreerider May 24th, 2015 17:43

two threads for same question...

Get a GBBR!

Welcome to ASC, take a moment to read the FAQ's and stickies as most anything you may have a question for has probably been answered already!

Ugh there's a big thread on this already that's some what relavent.

Just get the KWA RM4, I have it kicks more then the TM, granted, the Bolt kicks more, but doesn't have the bolt catch thing you gotta tap.

I too, would be interested in an AEG like this. However, as you said, theyre usually fairly pricey or hard to use.
The BOLT seems like a good idea, but if you've seen the review on the front page of AS, you'll see why I have doubts. (basically it just crapped out)

ThunderCactus May 24th, 2015 19:21

I know a guntech in Mb that's been using the BOLT for a while, says it's great.
The gen1s were unreliable, the gen2s are really good.

Sounds like you've had enough of hearing this but the RM4 ERG is worth checking out. When I decided to get a good electric gun two of my top criteria were what you're looking for: fights back when you pull the trigger and doesn't keep cycling when it's out of ammo.

I ended up getting a RM4 Scout and i'm real happy with it. Two downsides that come to mind with the RM4 is the recoil is front-to-back instead of up-down so it doesn't take you off target and the 'bolt release' is really wimpy.

But the build quality feels really solid, it's accurate and it sure is purty...

KWA RM4 would be my choice (for 'AEG) too. As a matter of fact, I have both the scout and CQB one. :)
But both of them can't compete with my PTS Megaarms AR GBBR. :P

Foxer2373 May 24th, 2015 21:15

Can't believe no one has said it, the PTW does none of those things.... The only thing it does is stop fire ring when mags are dry (90% don't anyway) and has the "bolt release" and all that does is allow the mag to start feeding.

No kick
No bolt
No working cocking handle
No working ejection port

I have nothing left to say other than GBB or Real Steel...

Good luck getting the TM it shoots 280 FPS out of the box and if you upgrade the spring the gun blows apart.

ThunderCactus May 24th, 2015 22:12

The fact that it does one of the things means it doesn't do none of the things lol

Although 99% of ptw's DO stop firing when the mag is empty, most of them have had the bolt catch bypassed so you don't have to hit it to get it to start feeding again.
The only other aspect that makes a ptw realistic is only it's compatibility with rs parts.

Anyway, it seems most of you didn't bother reading his post very carefully

Nowhere does it say he's looking for a GBBR, and you think that JUST MAYBE there's a valid reason as to WHY he's not looking for a GBBR???

Looking for functionality of GBBR
Very specifically NOT looking for a GBBR
You're looking for a truck, I don't offer you a damn motorcycle.
Pay attention.

Ripperstyle May 25th, 2015 00:19

Yea...so.
Thanks for all the feedback I appreciate it. Posting two threads for the same question is my bad, won't happen again. It's true I was specifically asking about AEG's but it seems the options are truly few and far between which I kinda found out on my own but wanted to see what more experience players had to say about it here. I realize that GBBR would be the go-to realistic weapon platform but I'm just not interested in using gas as oppose to battery. Meh, I'll guess I'll check out the RM4 again as well as BOLT. Thanks again.

Pay attention.

But if you ask me what is the best motorcycle to move a sheet of plywood, I'm gonna tell you to buy a ***** truck....

Ricochet May 25th, 2015 12:33

I do that too. I would still tend to tell him which motorcycle as well though.

Realism has many facets when it comes to airsoft. Sound, weight, feel, compatibility, kick, etc, all come into play. No gun does all of these 10/10 of course, but some have either mastered one or two of these dynamics or at least have the best option(s) available.

Most realistic weight: Systema PTW 10/10 (some GBBRs are fairly close)

Most realistic compatibility: Systema PTW 9/10 (it's the closes you'll get)

Most realistic sound: RA-Tech/WE M14 Open Bolt 6/10 (there's a company in New Zealand who's developing a sound box for AEGs with real .22 sound)
Most realistic kick: RA-Tech/WE M14 Open Bolt 5/10

Most realistic functions: Systema PTW 6/10 (for simulated jam, takedown, basic basic functions) charging handle can be modded to work, so can the dust cover to an extent.

Realism is great, but accuracy, distance, consistency and reliability are number one for me.
