Any great ideas to sand a barrel down?
 

Hay guys! I recently bought a Madbull Surefire Mini 5 suppressor, and the compensator that is suppose to screw onto the barrel, has a rear end that overlaps the barrel before it screws in. That whole where the barrel is suppose to go in, is 1mm too small. I watched videos on people installing it no problem on their barrels, so I am assuming because I have a GBB, its milspec and the AEG outer barrels are probably a tad thinner?

So I tried sanding it down with 60 grit sand paper, no go, and also tried filing it down, no go :(

Any ideas?

The hole on that compensator >:( It screws on, but cant go in further due to it being smaller.

Get is turned properly on a lathe if you want something nice.

Or a good metal file and lots of time will work too.

I was thinking if a dremel with a grinder tip would do the job...

Using a dremel for metalworking is like using a dildo instead of your dick. It sucks and leaves you desperately unsatisfied.

If your have a drill press with a vice on it, put the flash hider in the chuck, put a single point cutting tool in the vice, and feed it down to bore out the flash hider. It's essentially a vertical lathe.

Can't you remove material from the compensator instead of the barrel? That way you don't wreck your barrel's shape and finish incase you ever take the comp off.

You can't really see inside the comp once it's on so you don't need to do a perfect job and a dremel will work fine as long as you're careful.

I figured the barrel would be easier...hahaha

Are you sure you're installing it correctly? The SF can shouldn't extend rearward of the flash hider (thats why its extended)

Fair enough. Sand paper will take you forever and a day I wouldn't bother with that. If you can't get your hands on a dremel you could probably pick up a metal file from a hardware store for not too much, that would speed things up a little.

Another thing to think about is that you may be able to cut the overlapping section off provided it's not required for the suppressor to lock on.
