RIS for ics M4

Hey guys, been lookin around, i know that the tm RIS wont fit the delta ring, and how finicky they can be, but i found this
http://www.evike.com/product_info.ph...ducts_id=26623

And was wondering if id need a tri sight on the front of the gun to hold this togeather? Cause i have a 14.5" outer barrel and would like a long RIS but if i need a tri sight...dont think itd fit :p

Thanks guys

Ditch the delta ring altogether and it opens up a world of possibilities.

IIRC that RIS you've linked to is meant for the 18" barrel length M16 model that ICS has out. It might look awkward, and i don't think the triangular sight would work relocated on the 14.5" barrel (at least in eyeballing mine).

I'd suggest that if you want to have an extra long length RIS while retaining the stock barrel length and triangle sight, that this might be the ticket instead - http://img.redwolfairsoft.com/upload...MB-NRH03-L.jpg - MadBull - Noveske Rifleworks Free Float 10inch Handguard Rail for M4 Series AEG

I'm kind of on the edge of ordering it myself - i do already have the 7.25" Noveske version installed on my ICS M4 (no additional length of rail on sides/cut-out for the sights on top/bottom).

Ok thanks, but would i need a tri sight to hold it togeather?

Iam not interested in a tri sight, i just wanted to know if one was mandatory to hold some rails.

You wouldn't need a tri-sight to hold it together - with that collar in picture, that is what connects the RIS to the receiver. I do prefer, however, to retain my stock tri-sight as it is the 'gas block', and it also keeps the RIS pretty much rigid in place butted up against it. Without it, i found that the RIS tended to have a bit of up and down travel (perhaps 2-3 mm of flex) when handled. I don't like flex in metal components, as metal tends to crack with flexing over time.

Well my gun was used and the guy hacked off the trisight. It can't be removed from barrel. So does this mean I'd need a new outer..then a tri sight for better stability

Hacked it off? What kind of used abortion did you buy? Are you sure that you can't remove the remains of the tri-sight from the barrel? I thought that pretty much all ICS M4's had a tri-sight that is affixed by a small allen-key grub-screw on the bottom of the sight. Other manufacturer's use a pair of roller-pins to keep the sight in place on the barrel, and aligned.

If the grub screw is out - it should readily come off. That's the only thing holding it on. The grub screw is deeply recessed in the hole, btw.

Yes, should work - it's simply the 3" longer version of what is on mine (also the 'M44' model). See photo below - my concern with the 10" version would be that there is too much of a lever effect on that RIS, that without being tied to the barrel via a gas block it might strain the receiver at the rear of the RIS - I do NOT know if there is a solution to this, and i hope that someone else will chime in with input on this. As per the photo, the 10" RIS will line up with the forward line of the green-tape (arrow pointing at edge). As you can see, this brings it up to within 1/8" of an inch of the barrel fluting.. so using a conventional tri-sight would then be out of the question.
