G&g gr16

Hey guys, this is my first actual post on ASC, and im sorry if its in the wrong category or anything, ill fix it asap if ive made a mistake. Anyways, i've bought a g&g gr16 and i cant find a quadrail anywhere that can house my battery in it. So i've decided to keep the stock plastic handguard, and i was wondering if i could get a foregrip that would be compatible with a standard m4 carbine handguard? If you guys know of any canadian sites that i can get one from please send me a link.

Oh i went a the past saturday to get AV'd and im just waiting for it to go through!

So you want a rail system for the front end and for it to house a battery up in the front somewhere?

In that case what you're looking for is a "PEQ"/Battery Box, put your battery in there and hook it up to your motor and you're good to go.

As for the foregrip, I believe there are some that you can screw into the stock handguard but it'll probably be better/easier to go with the rail system + PEQ + foregrip.

hey, thanks for the info, i just looked up some PEQ boxes and quadrails and i think i found the right parts, thanks again!

Crap thsi was my main question about the PEQ boxes, do i need to get a different type of battery? the battery i currently have is a 8.4v, its two sticks..

L473ncy February 24th, 2011 15:30

Yes you will, the battery shape you currently have is known as a "Nunchuck" battery. You will need your battery to be in a "brick" shape.

There's 2 ways you can do this, if you're confident in your soldering abilities/electronics knowledge, take apart your nunchuck pack and rewire it into a "brick" that fits in your PEQ box.

OR the second way is simply just buy a new battery and either keep your current nunchuck as a backup or sell it to someone or something.

http://www.eliteairsoftbatteries.com/ seems like a pretty good site for buying a new batterypack (Apparently they're owned by or a subsidiary of CheapBatteryPacks.com which a lot of people know and recommend so there should be no worries about ordering from them).

EDIT: One thing I should mention is that with the Elite Airsoft Batteries site the "PEQ Packs" are 9.6V, with a higher voltage you get better trigger response and all that but obviously running higher voltages isn't that great unless your gun can take it (I have no experience with the G&G and 9.6V so best to wait for someone else to chime in). If you don't feel comfortable about that then go to Cheap Battery Packs and choose the "custom NiMh/NiCd packs" option and make an 8.4V pack that will fit in your PEQ box.

Hey, thanks again ill give it a whirl with theNiMh/NiCd battery packs, ive heard from a couple of other people that the gun i have might break down sooner than later simply because the gearbox does have a few plastic parts, i dont mint a lower voltage battery anyhow considering im used to the 8.4v i already have, thanks for all the help!

or you could get a magpul moe handguard and the rails that attach directly too them

Wrath144 February 26th, 2011 13:23

You can just buy a single length of rail to bolt on to your stock handguard. search for m4 handguard rail. also the moe handguard is a decent option, but the handguard rail would be cheapest.

Malarkey February 26th, 2011 14:49

Hey fleuryfighter, thanks for the suggestion but I think im going to go with the regular rail attachment that wrath144 suggested and get a vertical grip along with it. would this be a good choice? airsoftdepot.ca doesnt give any info on the product aside from its length, but how would i know if it wouldfit on my gun? My exact gun is... G&G GR16 carbine (pneumatic blow back system). heres the link for the rail i was looking at...

thanks for all the help everyone!

fleuryfighter February 26th, 2011 22:59

yea that rail should work. and its quite a bit cheaper than my opinion

SniperSam February 26th, 2011 23:15

You have a Boston Bruins avatar. Leave Canada nao lol

You may also like the angled foregrip that Magpul likes, I tried it out, really comfortable to handle

Malarkey February 27th, 2011 16:25

Hey sniper sam, I've tried out the angled grip just not on my gun it was on a paintball gun and i figure its the same, but i like the vertical cause then i could also get a foregrip/bipod 2 in 1 part, and the bruins are awesome! aha i plan on moving to boston in a few years, although i do love canada, bostons just amazing!

L473ncy February 27th, 2011 16:53

Ew.... why would you move to the US for any reason at all. The only reason I could see for moving to Boston would be to work in the Route 128 area.

PS: I like the angled grip too but prefer the vert grip since I already have one and just do what Chris Costa does with the vert grip and use it as a "guide" as to where to hold the handguard/railcovers.

Malarkey February 27th, 2011 18:14

Ok guys so this is where im at. Should i get the Magpul MOE handguard along with a 3 pack of rails, and a vertical bipod grip?

OR should i simply go with buying 1 rail (will it even be compatible?) for my stock m4 plastic handguard and buy the vertical bipod grip?
