8.4v vs 9.6v

Hey guys i planning to buy and other good gun (im 16 years old so i cant buy a classified) ok so what is the difference between an 8.4v and a 9.6 oh and an other question does the lipo in lipo ready does it break the gun ty :)

CDN_Stalker November 23rd, 2010 17:24

9.6V are one cell bigger than 8.4V and the only real (dis)advantage to having the 9.6V is the increased rate of wear/fire over the 8.4V. Where there is a benefit, there is also a really big con, is why I wrote the way I did. Stick with 8.4V and you'll be fine.

So its better going for an 9.6 v gun right ? any idea where to find some good gun under 400 with a battery :)

Unless you're willing/able to conduct frequent repairs and maintenance on your AEG, I'd stay away from the 9.6V. Yes, you get a faster rate of fire, but it can wreak havoc on your mechbox if you don't look after it more.

But when the compagny gift a 9.6 v battery with it will it be safier to use an 8.4 ?

it all depends on the make of the aeg, some of them will be able to take the extra power from a 9.6v while some don't. BTW what make is you're aeg?

...if the gun is designed for use with a 9.6V, then use it.

But in my experience most mechboxes aren't. What company did this, btw?

Why ?
New to airsoft btw

Cheesevillage November 23rd, 2010 19:21

In my experience, a nice 8.4v large will be comparable to a low quality 9.6v mini.

Lipo itself does not break a gun - the real issue here is available amps.
I high quality 7.4v lipo will still have stupid high ROF and response.

So long answer short: depends on the ratings of the cell itself.

PS: buy a large 8.4v NiMh and you'll be laughing.

I personally use 9.6v batteries.....massive NiMH ones.....5500 mah :D but i would recommend an 8.4

with regards to the website, They are pretty overpriced and I believe people have been scammed there before.

EDIT: oops one too many zeros

to be honest I havent dealt with that stuff.. although i do have a broxa MP5 and a TSD VSR clone I mainly use my CA, TM and RS..I was once your age when i was getting into airsoft, i was 15 when I started so i know exactly how you are feeling right now. That gun you wanted to get off of buyairsoft was a grand and it is NOT worth it.

My advice to you is to save your money untill you are 18 then get avd and flip though the classifieds then looking for something nice. The reason i recommend u to save your money is because you will need to buy a gear loadout, mags, radio, mask/goggles. It all really adds up very fast. Also those few years will allow you to ask questions and do research before you make a BIG investment in an AEG. I know i made a mistake when I got into airsoft and i would do a lot different If i could do it over because i got ripped off

A great starter weapon in my opinion is would be a full metal ICS or CA armalite series. Have a look into those

again, ASC is a wealth of knowledge, look in the discussion sections for threads on weapons and gear, if you read up you can discover and learn from other peoples mistakes.

The experienced players on ASC are usually more than happy to answer your questions but make sure you look around to see that someone else hasnt already answered your question in another thread because that is a one way trip to getting flamed...

If you want you can PM me with some questions if you need to, I've been in your situation before so I know what your feeling :)

cheers
