Do NOT use Oxygen for GBB!!!

Possible to use oxygen to fill a GBB?
They sell them in RONA for blow tourch, same cap
as propane, can use the propane adaptor, but does it work with oxygen mixed with silicon oil?

Edit~Summarizing the thread, do not even attempt to use oxygen to power any type of gas gun ever! Oxygen explodes when it contacts most greases and oils. Stick with duster, green gas or propane. - Darklen

somebody wanna blow they self up lol

Boyso July 12th, 2010 19:13

Propane is already cheap, dang, there are limits into going cheap for risk.

kylem_8 July 12th, 2010 19:15

before the flamming begins... thats actually an interesting concept... would that really work?....

ancorp July 12th, 2010 19:16

I was wondering the same thing. Anyone know what the pressure is at?

GBear July 12th, 2010 19:18

Any pressurized gas should work. The real question is, "Is it safe?"

You can vary the pressure Oxygen is stored under.

Compressed Oxygen is dangerous, isn't it? A small spark could cause explosion?

Stranger July 12th, 2010 19:38

^^^ I thought propane also exploded when exposed to sparks... and aren't both of them compressed gases which makes them equally dangerous?

Edit* maybe not equally dangerous but dangerous none the less

kylem_8 July 12th, 2010 19:55

ya im pretty sure if there is a spark close to propane it will light up too... hmmmm

Anyone have any "university" or "smart guy" knowledgeable information on this?

vincent1990 July 12th, 2010 20:03

So it wont smell bad indoor or outdoor. Better/ worse than propane?

Schlyder July 12th, 2010 20:04

DO NOT USE OXYGEN. Oxygen + oil, grease, etc. = explosion

no spark needed. Just pure oxygen coming into contact with any kind of oil, is highly explosive.
Oxy/Acetylene torches have it written right on the gauges. "Do Not Oil" for this reason.

http://www.docstoc.com/docs/19452735...OXYGEN-AND-OIL

have a look at that... I think you will see why oxygen is a bad idea.

It's a damn good thing you asked the question first. I think this thread should get stickied for safety reasons.

Kokanee July 12th, 2010 20:15

Pure oxygen also means tons of oxidization = rust.

kylem_8 July 12th, 2010 20:16

OMG!!!!.... yea... ok end of discussion... it wont work...

rust is the least of your worries if you blow your fucking hand apart.
