JG m4 upgrades

Hey.

I was thinking of upgrading my m4 this season instead of buying a new one, seeing as i don't have the money for that.

So i was wondering, will all i need is a new gearbox and a spring?
I haven't really ever felt the need to upgrade so i know nothing about it and thought i could use some help. Anyone have any suggestions on something affordable but with good reliability?
Also, i should say im not looking to pimp out my gun or anything, i just need to get some updates so i don't break down in the middle of the season and am stuck without a gun.

Does this seem ok?

Thanks

That's not an upgrade. It's a straight across replacement. Upgrading would imply you want to improve something. You don't improve on something by replacing it with the same thing.

If you're worried about the reliability of the gun, get it checked by a reputable gundoc. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Otherwise, what would you like to see improved in the gun? Accuracy, Rate of Fire (ROF)? Range?

Modify/Prometheus/Systema/Guarder FTK would work

Well i guess i would like to see the rate of fire to improve, but im guessing like a computer, if you upgrade one thing other things have to as well?

I'm not sure what you intend to gain be replacing a JG mechbox with an identical JG mechbox. It's not an upgrade in any way shape or form. THat's replacing what's already in there with an identical mechbox.

That being said, newer JG mechboxes are quite good. I say if there's nothing wrong with your gun, then don't mess with it. When something does fail (will eventually happen on any gun, regardless of the price), then open it up and upgrade it internally.

If you don't know what aspect of your gun needs improving, you don't need to upgrade.

We have a little saying in airsoft: "When you're ready to upgrade, you'll know."

Wanting to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading is, quite honestly, the worst reason to upgrade.

upgrade... get a guarder clear bucking, that is all.

Systema parts fail, it's over hyped and over priced shit IMO. If you want quality go with Prometheus or Modify.

Well i guess i made it unclear of what i ment, when i say upgrade i never ment to actually get better parts then i already have, i just ment it as so if my gun did break down i would have the parts handy, i just want to start and look now instead of having to rush it when my gun does break down.

Anyways like i said i have no clue what im doing in this so i am thankful for the replies i got and thank you for making a good point of not doing any swapping until i have a breakdown

Many thanks

I opened up my JG gearbox today.

If you have the time, just clean it up, and use GOOD oil + grease. Mine was so filed with oil (no grease at all!), my workspace was flooded with oil. And it stinked.

Also, might want to shim it correctly, all my gears were touching.
