Border Wars?

Does anyone know if there will be a Border Wars game this year or after last year is the serious over?

Drake April 7th, 2010 23:33

Only the organizers can answer that definitively, but from what was said after last year's turn of events I think anything that happens this year (at the very least) will be South of the border.

Then again I remember there was a thread about how you could register your airsoft gun so you can take it to the US and bring it back, so all hope isn't lost if you really want to attend.

That "registration" means nothing, it's meant for tools and stuff like that for contractors that go down to the US.

I've personally talked to a CBSA officer and they said that it wont work.

Exactly. It would be like trying to register your cocaine so you can bring it back when you return to Canada.

Oh well, all hope IS lost then. Better luck next time.

Yeah, still plenty of games. not like boarder war was the only game here.

Damn. I had heard of the Border Wars series and wanted to attend one. I go into the sport too late for that I fear.

The usual people are all over the IDEA of a large game at a great venue.. but when it came to actually committing and PAYING it just never happened

It was the amount + pre pay that not enough people liked. I'm sure more than enough people would have shown up if they were paying on game day but not enough people were willing to pay that much in advance.

There were also some of us who'd been to previous border wars games and simply didn't think the cost was worth it.

My stance was:

Originally there was an option to pre-pay AND an option to pay at the gate.

Then when there wasn't enough money to get the show started, there was suddenly a demand for a set number of pre-payed players, or else the game would be cancelled.

Then there was a worry about the financial state of the event because of the demand for pre-payment, and a lot of people backed out...

That about sums it up.

Next time, require pre-payment before a set date, with no option to pay at the gate, end of problem. Or have the money set aside as a loss, and run the game with the chance of breaking even. That's my take on it.
