Replica? Hells yes...

Regardless of their legal standing....

One of these is a KSC Glock 17. The other is a Glock 17 Gen 3. Which is which?

Aquamarine September 3rd, 2008 21:32

With the rear image, I'll guess the glock on the left is the real version.

MadMorbius September 3rd, 2008 21:35

You do have to guess tho, dontcha? They're REALLY close.

Drache September 3rd, 2008 21:36

In the first picture it's the glock on the top thats the real one

Styrak September 3rd, 2008 21:36

I'd say the left is real too.

Trapper1 September 3rd, 2008 21:38

left one, but they're both still glocks ewwww lol.
1911s all the way. reliable pistols tho, can't kill em

Mantelope September 3rd, 2008 21:38

I'd say left because of seam lines and the white paint on the rear sight.

Nothing wrong with 1911's, and I own one as well. For range and carry purposes, it's a question of economics - 9mm is $13 a box. .45 is $30 a box.

I've never "killed" a Glock either, mind you, and I've had some really picky 1911's.

Shirley September 3rd, 2008 21:43

left!

CDN_Stalker September 3rd, 2008 21:43

Upper left as well, you can see the take down pin on the base of the mag, as well as the Glock logo (take down pin was the dead giveaway)

Crunchmeister September 3rd, 2008 21:45

Top and left are real. I didn't have to guess because I know the slight differences between the KSC and the real steel. But it's very subtle and there's no real differenting them on sight for more people. That's as replica as a replica gets.

MadMorbius September 3rd, 2008 21:46

Left it is. Now picture being 10 feet away and trying to make the distinction ;)

Anyway, I was just looking for an excuse to show them off; incidentally both arrived at the same time today. Talk about confusion.

Trapper1 September 3rd, 2008 21:48

ha ha, i agree. .45 is just my kinda caliber tho, 9mm feels like too much of a toy for me.There is no such thing as a full auto 1911 either. cheers

CDN_Stalker September 3rd, 2008 21:49

Is funny, I took the stock rear sight off my parts G19 slide a few days ago, it has a rather substancial white plastic insert, yet above I see a reference to 'painted on white outline'............. real Glocks have a white painted outline?

Donster September 3rd, 2008 21:51

I just checked closely as the pics were loading, saw the base and the takedown pin to take the mag apart, then looked for what others said. If it was a G22 or larger calibre, if it was a Gen 3, it'd likely have dual pins above rear of the trigger instead of one. But Gen 2 and upwards have the grips shaped like that, with finger grooves.

The Glock 21 takes a .45 ACP cartridge while the Glock 37 takes a .45 GAP cartridge.

True but they still feel like shooting a brick, And they're polymer framed personal preference is all. I like my steel:D

They have for QUITE a while. It's the .45 GAP which are the (semi)new releases.

ownzyouall September 3rd, 2008 22:42

I think in the second picture. The one one the right is the gen 3 and the left is the KSC.

Yes, since the early/mid 1990s! Welcome to the now! :D

Lakonian September 3rd, 2008 23:42

Glocks and 1911s are awesome. I personally like the glock's pointability more.. it's just more natural. I REALLY hate the trigger pull on RS glocks though...

SHÖCK September 4th, 2008 04:15

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the lack of a fill port on the real glock magazine being the most obvious indicator.

KSC glocks have it covered, you must slide the base plate to fill.

Wow... Imagine it was a matter of life and death, heh heh.

Lucky you though, sounds like someone had an early Christmas.

It is, but I got the Glock on a trade for a SW M&P in .40cal. I liked the M&P, but I just liked the Glock a LOT more and it was only really evident after some combat drills.

MadMorbius September 4th, 2008 11:03

Ok guys, the one on the LEFT is the Glock 17 Gen 3 (real steel). The one on the RIGHT is the KSC Glock 17.

As for identification of "generations" "at a glance":

You can swap that out easily and achieve a 3lbs trigger pull.

So I've read. Definitely considering getting one. We'll see :)

Also, I find the TM G17 is a tiiinnny bit more realistic... (not for finish though.. )

DuffMan September 4th, 2008 18:26

i just got a cheap Meister G17 from Hong Kong, FMU. The trades seem to be pretty perfect:

Heh, yup it's wrong. Everything else looks really nice though.

DuffMan September 4th, 2008 19:04

It actually has the trigger safety, it's more visible cocked.
