Systema Flash Hider Removal! In great need of help!
So somehow I broke off the plastic Flashhider from the systema Gun. I am now left with the brass cylinder.
I tried heating it from the beginning and my best to take it off but the flashhider just broke off. I am now stuck with the brass on there and I dont know what to do. Please hlp! errr. DUDE! wtf?
Where did your threads go? |
The threads are underneath the brass ring.
I take it you've tried pliers with no success? Best would be a set of 6" or 8" Channel Locks. |
lol... were you turning it the right way? :P that sucks,if it cracked your threads off chance are your looking a whole new front end.... 240 bucks

|
Im so pissed off I put away the gun.
|
Get the adjustable ones, not just basic slip-jointed pliers.
You know, I could get that off for you in about 10 seconds. But you're way out east. Sorry to rub that in. Go buy something. You'll feel better. |
LOl Brad! I need you here lol!... Alright I will head to CT tomorrow and search for adjustable channel locks!
|
Hey brad are channel locks something like this:
Amazon.com: Channellock GLS-1 2 Piece Griplock 9-1/2-Inch and 12-Inch Tongue and Groove Plier Set: Home Improvement |

I had the same problem with the brass ring. I found my solution on the PTW forums. I heated the ring up using a blow touch and then it came off with vice grips.
|
I was trying to search for that thread. Do you have alink for it?

I don't think this was the thread that I had looked at but they mention it in this one. It doesnt really give much info other than saying to heat it and twist. I didnt have to heat the ring up for long and then it came off relatively easy. I used a dental tool to remova all the dried glue and clean up the threads. Hope this helps. |
Thanks for the info.
So you used a blow torch and heated it up and it came off? I will grab a vise grip tomorrow. Do you think the stove top can heat up that thing? I dont have a blow torch... |

Buy a little torch lighter at your local convenience store. It will do the trick if you need precision heat direction. |
If your stove is gas you could, a torch lighter would be the cheapest alternative.. or you could BBQ it.
EDIT: AH nuts to you mcguyver ya beat me to it. :D |

Reno's with a torch? I hope you're talking about soldering copper, and not "creative" demolition!!

Thanks Brand and x95. I borrowed my neighbours vise grip thing and I heated the thing up on my stove top and I got it off!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! |

A $2000 gun comes with a plastic flashhider?
Wow... |
Yeah I was really disappointed about that too. Really wanted it to come with a the steel flash hider. But since this was coming from the states it has to be orange.
|
Had the EXACT same problem. Took the brass ring off with a tool that digs in the metal and then you twist the brass ring off. Was a pain in the ass. Same with the barrel nut.

EDIT - Congrats Philip on getting it off, finally, without breaking something, lol. |
on my new 08 I think I will have to cut off the plastic hider since it seems like it's been glued on. No big deal since a new 1 is on the way but I should have been able to just slide it off.
