G&P Marine body Problem
On the marine body the dust cover i am having problems..
i got the rod and the washer thing that helps it not slide out and the cover itself..but there is a circle thin thing with it and i have no clue where it goes..it doesnt seem like a magnet it dont stick to metal or anything..help guys |
It's an e-ring, it goes into the groove in the rod after you've installed it, prevents the rod from sliding off by itself.
|
i know that but its something else the e ring is already around the pipe thing
|
One e-ring is fixed, and the other you install on the other end of the rod once you get everything together.
|
My G&P Marine dust cover doesn't have a magnet either. It's for the best anyways. You really don't want that open when you're playing anyways to keep unwanted substances out. As for that thin circle thingy...???
Can you slide your dust cover side-to-side? It maybe a spacer to prevent that. Only thing I can think of what it is. |
how does the dust cover stay closed then if it has nothing on it
|
The spring holds it closed. Your kit should have came with a small spring that is installed on that rod.
|
mine doesnt even stay closed
|
This maybe a stupid question, but did you install the spring properly? You have to wind the spring abit.
|
Ya you didn't put the spring on properly lol
|
what u mean wind it what do i gotta do thanks guys
|
like i only thought u put the spring on how do u wind it..thanks guys for your help cant wait to show u the gun when its complete

no it was for the dust cover
|
G&P metal bodies usually come with a small instruction sheet with pictures of how to disassemble your old receiver and re-assemble the new one. None of this should be a mystery.
You installed the spring for the dust cover "wrong", i.e., you didn't wind the spring to put tension on it, so it's just sitting there. Personally, I hate seeing ARs being used with the dust cover closed, so I swap mine out for the "always open" realistic-looking ones. The small magnet-looking disc is a cover for the fake fire selector (on the right side of the receiver): see picture #45 in your instruction sheet. (you have to glue it on, btw) |
Does that extra part fit between the words "Safe Semi Auto"? seen here...

zone yoright now how do i get it on there is no glue on it or sticky things can i add some apoxie* glue to it a tinny bit..thanks guys...
and about the spring how do you have to keep it on the outside of the cover those 2 little prongs or do they stay in the inside that spring is a pain in the you know what |
I don't remember how I did mine, but put the dust cover where it should be, slide the rod in until its about to reach the middle opening, then hold the spring the way it needs to be, and slide the rod through it. Before you attempt this make sure you know how the spring it supposed to be.
Looking at my spring. Concerning the little ends sticking out. Left is from behind the bar and on the reciever, right is from in front of the bar and on the exposed side of the dust cover. Those fake body pins/ lever ends can be apoxied on. |
i put the spring in like u said and it just wont stay closed
|
PMd
Did you use the picture I sent? Both spring ends should be on top and left one should be on reciever while right is up and on top of dust cover. |
yea i got it like that it just wont stay closed or spring closed\
|
Are the spring ends both pointing up? Or both pointing down? If you have it like the picture and it's not working then I'm confused. Unless your spring's different and you need to torque it around more.
|
t it i mean its lose but stays closed
|
last question ok thanks for your help
the hopup bucking how to i put it on and how far does the ruber go on.. also there is this little nut looking thing what is it and how do i put it on..after that thats it im compete gun is done.. The spacer its called how do you put that on.. and how far do you put the rubber peice on |
No Prob. But if it's loose man don't settle for it. Maybe you need to torque the spring around again to make it tighter?
I'm not at all familiar with the G&P hopup. But as far as my P90 goes... The hopup rubber goes on until it sort of "snaps" (very softly of course) into the hole in the barrel provided for it. It needs to stay that way as you assemble it and not get pushed up, so assembly is delicate to get it right. wiggle it together gently. Maybe lube it. I won't comment on the little nut thing though, I'm only familiar with the P90 and PTW hopup. Oh, but I think it screws on to the plastic part that fits over the hopup rubber. I'm visualizing a P90 here so I dunno... EDIT: http://www.tarad.com/proforceshop/im...25123943_b.jpg Does it consist of the same parts as that? I'm a little drunk already, but I don't see any nut type thing. Another reason why I love the P90. The hopup is great. I can't believe I've thought of selling it. Screw that. Keep me updated on how it's going, I'm going bowling soon. |
does that brass looking ring go over the rubber or in front i dont know how to put that ring on i got the rubber on the barrel but where does the ring go
|
IT goes on the small end of the hopup rubber.

yup that,s what i did. pic#1 And dont lose your bucking rubber. pic#2 And is this how the ring go,s I dont really know now. I don't think it go,s there. pic#3 I use it as a shim here. |
Every G&P hopup unit I've taken apart from a G&P gun has used that brass ring as a shim to keep the hopup chamber inline with the inner barrel. Never seen it used on the hopup rubber like that before...
