Buying Metal Airsoft Guns

I have read the "No you CANNOT import guns" thread but that was made long time ago and times have changed.

You can import guns between 366-500fps but I don't know if you can import full metal ones.

I just ordered a full metal one from ASGI, so... will it will be seized by customs?

volteco July 18th, 2013 13:46

You will have to try your luck ! :)

Hectic July 18th, 2013 13:49

It shouldnt get stopped but it all depends on the customs officer.
Many things that shouldnt be siezed get siezed and alot of restricted stuff gets in.

ThunderCactus July 18th, 2013 14:10

I like how you didn't ask until after you bought it

Brian McIlmoyle July 18th, 2013 14:16

I peed my pants will my socks get wet?

Hectic July 18th, 2013 14:24

Because you asked us, even though you peed first, no they will not get wet.

Lol yeah I know... I had my eye on it for a week but yesterday it just ran out of stock before I had a chance to buy it. Then today I saw it was in-stock again so I didn't think twice and bought it...

I also put in a pair of goggles making it over $200 which I forgot about the $46+ customs charge for sending over $200 in value.

CRAP.

L473ncy July 18th, 2013 14:37

Doesn't ASGI ship using UPS only?

Prepare to get charged like $100 in fees for brokerage (really just signing a piece of paper) and whatever else they decide to charge you for.

lurkingknight July 18th, 2013 14:46

that's like asking if you're going to get an STD AFTER you've fucked the hooker.

redzaku July 18th, 2013 14:51

good luck, bud, if you manage to get it, congrats but if your rifle gets seized, I am going to laugh myself to death when you get blacklisted from CBSA for bringing in a "replica firearm"
and next time, think and ask before you try to import an airsoft rifle from the states or internationally

EchoFourTwelve July 18th, 2013 15:37

How come i feel like he ordered a Lancer tactical m4. lol

edit: nvm he said full metal. derp.

Sigged.

Cobrajr122 July 18th, 2013 17:18

As long as the ASG meets the muzzle energy requirements and you get a CBSA officer who is up to speed with the laws than you will not have an issue.

However, the UPS rape charges are going to make it not worth buying in the US at all.

True story, if I order anything from the US I make sure it's not shipped via UPS. If it is I prepare my wallet for a good old fasion pounding by a large brown man wearing shorts.

For the service fee, the large brown man wearing shorts (along with his buddies in the processing center) usually give the package a good pounding before it's actually delivered, also.

daveyster July 18th, 2013 21:40

Whats the best way to ship? USPS?

yup.
though AirsoftGi and a few other retailers refuse to list it as an option.

Spadona July 18th, 2013 22:12

Canada Post, USPS, and HK Airmail are your best bets when it comes to shipping. They're cheap and reliable (HK Airmail mostly ships free).

As for imports, I say just order from Canadian retailers. Trying to import an AEG into the country is not only risky, but you worry about your shipment every day, and that's not good for your blood pressure.

Don't forget that packages marked as fragile get thrown faster & farther.

One site that has added USPS as an option to cater to Canadian customers is Airsoft Outlet NW. (I've used them a few times for some hard to find/ out of stock parts) It's nice not to have to pay over $100.00 for your $20.00 part.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go track down a hooker.....:D

lurkingknight July 18th, 2013 23:23

I generally email US vendors before putting an order in to see if they will ship usps. Most smaller ones will.... but most smaller ones also dont' know or care about the import laws.

L473ncy July 19th, 2013 02:46

Not totally related but I refuse to deal with Motorcycle Superstore because they only deal with UPS for international orders, whereas a company like Revzilla gives the option of USPS for international orders so my money goes to them.

Note that if it's EMS that's good. EMS is basically the "National couriers" that have made a courier network so USPS, HK Post, Singapore Post, whatever will be turned over to CanPost when it hits customs and deliveries will be made by CanPost.

I made that mistake before with Motorcycle Superstore, they were great to order from when I ship to the US and pick it up, but if it's coming to canada revzilla is the way to go.

Yeah, Point Roberts is only a hop skip and a jump away but then I need to deal with driving down there and it's like a 45 minute drive plus time to get over the border and then pay duties because you're there for less than 24 hours and really the only reason why you go to Point Roberts is to pick up packages so Customs is more stringent on duties and stuff.

I use Hagen's of Blaine, just across the peace arch border. The border wait is a bit longer though. Lately I've just ordered to canada, not really worth the hassle...

I had some payment issues, so I had to delay it by a week.

So I ordered it last week Tuesday. And the UPS estimation says it will be delivered this Tuesday, tomorrow.

Here's the UPS tracking, did it get through customs? (Started from the bottom)

Consider yourself lucky for only $35...

Does UPS do that thing where they send you invoices 3 months after the fact as well? Or is that only FedEx?

BTW: Fedex can also suck my dick for cross border shipping as well. They love invoicing you 3 months after the fact after you get your package...

DrunkenTeddy August 10th, 2013 10:50

I've only seen FedEx do that.

SureShot August 10th, 2013 22:34

Recently I ordered an MRS Reflex sight from Amazon.ca.
Imagine my surprise when they confirmed my order and told me my optics would be shipped from the supplier in the USA.
Now apparently there's a problem importing optics from the USA but it didn't affect my shipment. Maybe because it was delivered USPS/Canada Post.

So I'm guessing if you order a metal airsoft gun from Amazon.ca and it comes from the USA you will get it.
Has anybody else had experience with Amazon.ca?

sent from my Galaxy SIII & Tapatalk4 beta

redneck12 August 10th, 2013 22:55

ITAR restrictions don't apply to knock offs, only the real deal parts.

coach August 11th, 2013 19:34

For ups, if the driver doesn't enter your credit card info correctly or loses it, they will send an invoice to you. I argued with them over a COD package that was delivered to me at home. It was signed for as paid and delivered so I initially refused to pay since it was released and told them to chase down the driver.

It went on for several months but ultimately since I could not show proof of payment with a CC statement, I ended up having to pay it.

Styrak August 12th, 2013 16:46

As far as I'm concerned, usually when a package is accepted and signed for, the transaction is over, done.

I wish Fedex can think that way...
