Hello ASC members.

Super new product I am unavailing. Sight protector.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-e...3/P1040734.jpg

This is the video of the new product.

I need some people to give me feedback on this.

I am even willing to send some of you a proto for evaluation. I want to know your perspective on this. I lost a few dots in the past... so 3 sight later I got the inspiration for this.

Thanks

will they be of different sizes or all the same? for that particular sight it's kind of big.

wouldn't mind trying it in front of my acog though.

For now I have one size... BIG.. lol
I wanted to cover most sights. If you reverse it... it can be setup on a scope.

Berkut April 4th, 2013 09:48

Will need to be different heights to, to accommodate different setup methods. I.e T1 mounted directly on the rail for AK or on the riser for ARs etc.

Basic-Wedge April 4th, 2013 09:50

That looks like it would be quite suitable for my Elcan. When will it be available for purchase?

This is one of the reasons I made it big. But i need input from you guys to see if it is worth it to make different variants.

Again thanks for your input.

hattrick April 4th, 2013 09:54

I like the concept *thumbs up* best of luck!

It's a good idea. Simple and I can only assume cost effective. And if it's not something that will break the bank, can be trimmed down to fit the contour of whatever optics it's placed in front of.

This is a great idea! However, I have an idea to improve this. Take the concept of the protective screen, but make a metal rail mount attachment (kinda like this https://danieldefense.com/media/cata...024d690af0.jpg) and have different sized inserts to accomodate the sizes. So it can be interchangeable as well as accomodating! :) just my 2 cents.

Brian McIlmoyle April 4th, 2013 10:40

you can just trim it to fit your particular sight.. dremel to the job

that's going to take a lot more effort to develop a mounting system to attache to a rail mount!

I tried this... and I did not find a mount that worked. If you can send me a link to a mount... I would like to explore the idea again.

Thanks

How about making few models: one, as you have right now, one fits all. Then look at the market, what are the mots popular sights out there? Say ACOG and T1s, do models to fit those, at different price that "one fits all", any custom models would have "custom" price.

Well I do not see a problem with that. My molder... guy... can do anything.

Send me the sights and I can get something made for it.

that would fall under "custom". What you can do is look at the market and see the most common systems people use, like ACOG, T1 etc, then you can mass produce protectors for those sights and have them in stock available for immediate sale. Plus your molder guy can make few in one set and, I would assume, give you a price break instead of making them to order.

Here's a link that may give you some ideas to help you design something better, I currently use this: http://www.wgcshop.com/wgc2008/main/...or&catid=&cat=

It attaches to a rail and has the ability to flip up/down.

Im in Montreal so if you want you can post one or i can come pick up it at the store to make some test and appreciation. Im in the sniper rout so protecting my optic is important.

Looks like you shot the edge of the shield and chipped it. It would be nice to see direct hits to the center. Also it needs to clamp onto the rail so it can break off or side off.

A one size fits all won't work, and a rail mount is really needed.

There are reports of the lexan shields breaking those china made ones, not the bases.

Try this base. It's made in Canada.

You could always ask Qlong nicely, and give him some money. He does custom work.

bizkilter April 7th, 2013 20:00

I'd definitely pick one up for my spectre ").

tygr701 April 8th, 2013 00:13

Would definitely be willing to trial these for you. PM me.

In the video I unload 30 rounds in the center.
One of the bbs hit the side and chipped the prototype.
I have roundded the edge now.
No more chipping :)
