ICS M4 Help

Ok, got my m4 today, traded for paintball stuff, all went well until i decided to open it up.....i got the top half of the gearbox off looked at afew of the internals for awhile. Then put back togeather..now it wont fire, the motor and gears all go fine but it seems it wont pull the spring back, any help?
I dont know if its my stupidity or the gun, iam leaning towards my fault haha :P

Make sure the flat section of the gear is facing up.

If you did not press the forward assist (in this case spring release) before removing the receiver, the gears won't be in the right position and your gun won't fire since it's locked out.

GreenBastard745 July 7th, 2012 18:01

Ok. So its probs locked out then..now what? Haha

Fire the gun in semi

RaisinBran July 7th, 2012 19:05

Open up the receiver and move the gears back to the proper position. You shouldn't have to take apart anything other than the pins holding the receiver together.

GreenBastard745 July 7th, 2012 19:20

Ok. It went back togeaather. But when I fire it makes like a bad sounding noise and cuts out?

heikis July 8th, 2012 14:15

did you open the upper gearbox? is the tappet plate in one piece (not broken)?

GreenBastard745 July 8th, 2012 14:25

Dident open the upper gearbox, could i have busted it?

GreenBastard745 July 8th, 2012 14:28

Nope its good, its weird, i mustve busted somethin when i opened it but i cant see anything, it seems like itll pull the spring back but not fire, cause after it loks and i open it the spribg will shoot forward

Varjeal July 8th, 2012 17:22

Something's not lined up right and binding when you close up the gearbox. Youtube some take down videos and have a look. :)

GreenBastard745 July 8th, 2012 22:42

Hmmm, just took apart, appears i dont have stock parts :p bearing spring guide and piston with 7 metal teeth

Ohhh and a Turbo 3000

Those are stock ICS parts

GreenBastard745 July 8th, 2012 22:55

ahahaha damm, made myself look pretty stupid there

GreenBastard745 July 8th, 2012 22:56

so anyways......dunno if i should open lower gearbox or not

dont wanna dick it more

Moonschlagen July 8th, 2012 23:13

Watch some video's about opening up ICS gearboxes and standard gearboxes in general before you attempt it. Its not opening it up that is hard, its putting it back together properly that can be a real bitch if you are inexperienced.

GreenBastard745 July 8th, 2012 23:36

ok, took it all apart, and back togeather, nothing....same thing happens, gears spin then cut out, >:(

heikis July 9th, 2012 06:59

did the gun shoot fine before taking it apart?
have you tried a different battery?

sounds like your battery is weak or a bad motor. or just try recharging your battery.

btw- opening the gun with the spring under tension will break your tappet-plate. you have been lucky so far

GreenBastard745 July 9th, 2012 13:14

Guys, it was the motor, which is weird cause it worked before, but anyways, took my friends long type motor and it worked flawlessly! It was a high torque motor tho :p

ya its weird cause it worked before i took it apart, then i put diff motor in it and it worked fine, will the internals be able to handle a high torque motor?
just wonderin if the ICS Turbo 300 was, i need a new one now :p

heikis July 9th, 2012 16:19

turbo 3000 is considered a high torque motor. if i remember correctly i once had to buy a new turbo3000 because of the same problem you had.

GreenBastard745 July 9th, 2012 16:56

So i could get any long type high torque motor, correct?

Kos-Mos July 9th, 2012 18:59

You are better find an other Turbo3000.

ICS had/has a tendency to use a different angle on the pinion and bevel, so using something else will work, but will wear the gears and pinion faster.

GreenBastard745 July 9th, 2012 19:04

Damn, now i wish i was verified
