I am awair that similar posts have being posted before but i feel i need to bring to your attention the amount of cheaters in airsoft. In a sport like paintball you know for sure that you hit them because i big mark is left but not always the same for airsoft. is there someway to get people to be honest when hit? :?:
|
Just like real life. Keep shooting until the target goes down.
Play with ppl you respect and you won't have to overshoot. |
Paintball players honest? Are you crazy? I quit the entire sport because teams owners and trainers were routinely teaching their players how to cheat effectively to give them an edge at tournaments. Not to mention the amount of bias by event organizers. Please ...
The majority of airsoft players are honest, there are very few who will actuall cheat. When a potential cheater knows that a game host has a zero tolerance cheating policy in effect and will enforce it, players generally fall into line. If someone is caught cheating at one of my events they will not be permitted out to another. I'll cut newbs a bit of slack and maybe allow them a couple warnings max, but after that they're gone. |
Absolutly no room for cheating in our "gentlemens" sport. Lets not forget also that bb's are light and at extreme range with the amount of kit some of us pack youmight not feel it. i know there have been times where i have hit some one and after POLITLY pointing this out ive gotten an "oh.. nice shot i didnt feel it. Hit!" also its actually hard to tell if you hit some one, interviening brush hell air currents can cause a bb to veer in funny ways. I know Squeeks your a young fellow but a good general rule is give some one the benfit of the doubt.
|
yes I''ve been hit and not felt it, also hit others and they didn't feel it. I tend to let it go at first. The worst offence I have seen regularly is players who are hit either pointing out the enemy or saying where the enemy are. DEAD DON"T TALK
I am guilty of saying nice shot after dying on occasion and after thinking about it I should have shut up because me talking might give away the other teams position anyway. |
More often than not I've found I can hear a bb hitting my gear even if I can't feel it. I call myself out regardless.
|
Yeah.. alot of this is a judgement call.
I've been hit... even caught it on vidio, and never felt it. I thought the guys GBB jammed because it was point blank. Ends up it ricochet off my suspender somewhere. So, if your unsure, either callyourself out.. or if your the shooter, give the guy the benefit of the doubt. That said... some people have a 'reputation'. My theory is... the worse the reputation... the more ammo is required for a kill. Heh, I don't mind holding a trigger down for a 50 round burst. They'll either learn, or people will get sick of them. |
Well I've heard of people who waste a whole mag on known "cheaters". What you do is just hold the trigger until they call themselves out.
If they aren't known to be a cheater then let it go maybe once or twice. DO NOT do this to honest players otherwise you come off as an asshole. |
I think what it all boils down to, is if you lie you go to hell. Or if you're unlucky, you wish you went to hell.
|
Not calling your hits makes baby jesus cry.
|
I wouldn't really worry about people cheating. After all, most airsoft players are mature adults and play the game for fun.
People just have to remember that we go airsofting for fun--Winning a game doesn't mean anything. By the way, love your avatar pic Grim. Its really cute  |
if your out how long do you have to sit for before your back in?

Or, if the game calls for it, a "medic" can come and heal you on the spot, or you go to a respawn point and start over. |
i completley agree with freedom, I quite playing paintball because the whole sport began revolving around how well you can cheat/ bounce/ wipe.
one idea i would like to toss out there is when we are playing a moderated game, if someone is identified as a cheater, the refs should have him wear a saftey vest, or some sort of vest that makes them stick out like pink marker tape, make it less fun for them to play, and also help people on the other end of the barrel; lets them know that this person is a cheater, either ignore them, or shoot em till they drop. this would at least deter people from cheating, and definatley help honest players keep their sanity while playing. and you could enforce it by saying, "hey you were stupid enough to cheat, so sorry but you have to wear this the rest of the day, and if you take it off, you can go home, make your choice." if you just boot a cheater, nobody learns. this would also deter would be cheaters as well. |
Yeah I've been hit before too and not felt it and thus did not call myself out... I mean, with the kind of vests we wear sometimes you cannot hear it or even feel it at all. That's why when I play, I try to aim for the arms or legs, chances are they're exposed and not protected by anything. ;)

I get REALLY pissy when someone doesn't call a hit, more so when I can see them flinching from the hits.....but.....after a few minutes of biting my tongue I realise life goes on and I shouldn't let it bother me....until next time.....
People not calling hits isn't going to happen at every game and as much as I hate to say it....it's part of the hobby. The only way to ensure hits are called is to use real bullets.....but....well...you run out of targets after a bit. |

Think about all the BBs that could be saved! |
once the game is over people may forget what happens in the game but they will never forget a cheater.(from my grade 5 teacher)
|
imagine... an airsoft registry... where game promoters could update information and stats on players... including cheating violations and unsportsmanlike conduct.
oh wait, this is airsoft... common sense rarely applies. |

What if you're rustling through leaves and somebody shoots your gearbox? You won't feel it and you likely won't hear it. Thats a pretty irresponsible comment you threw out there. Everyone on the field is expected to make full use of common sense and most of the time people are mature enough to do so. Airsoft is a potentially dangerous sport, common sense ALWAYS applies. |

wow thats amazing people say that we overshoot all the time....HA! we stop shooting when people call hit. Name of the game |

Sometimes you hit them and they don't call it. Sometimes you MISS and you think you hit them... Don't assume cause you shot at them, that you actually hit them... When i did play, i would only call out cheaters if i could actually see my bbs bounce off their body, and then see their reaction (i.e. rub their leg in pain, then move away into cover) |
all the little punk kids who think they are too good to be eliminated from a game so they dont call their hits play paintball...................one of the many reasons I airsoft.
And on the only occasion I KNOW I hit someone and they didnt call it, I just hosed them down with half a high cap. Could have sworn he was crying  |
Ya tharkad I too have realized and try to point out that you can spray an area through some cover and it LOOKS like you are hitting them but really you are not. I've been on the recieving end of fire that is flying and bouncing off twigs but nothing hits me. (happened yesterday but he eventually nailed me in the hand)
|
Like i was saying just give the guy the benefit of the doubt and play on. Paintball is a sport.. you win you loose.... Airsoft is a hobby, if we have fun we all win. nuff said on this i think.
|
"if they don't call hit emty em' with a high cap"...or "what the heck here...knife kill that moron" good thing I havent encountered cheaters yet but if this happens I'll alert the field marshall and tell them a player is cheating so that person will be penalized if he/she still cheats.

I'm serious. If it's "just a game", shouldn't they be playing it as such themselves? If they want to turn the game as if it really matters, into a slightly more life-serious venue... Trust me - first shot to the crotch or to the head will piss them royally. Then you can remind them that's the price of cheating. Thank god for airsoft. Personally, with such the small community we have... It's utterly stupid to cheat, IMO. You'll be labelled as such dam fast, and soon enough, a fairly large portion of the community will be aware. Then you may be stuck with a grand's worth of gear (at least), and nothing to do but offer it up in the buy/sell cause no one's gonna want to play with you! |
I got reamed by both the paintball and airsoft community in my area for suggesting that airsoft requires honor in order for play to take place whereas paintball doesn't because of the paint.
To me the opportunity to excercise of honor is what makes airsoft a military experience more than the realism of the guns or any amount of kit or props. I wrote an article in response that I posted on several sites. My favorite version is here http://www.airsoftireland.com/forums...3&hl=paintball The cops in the area apparently feel somewhat the same way. This happened to me not too long ago. We'd arrived at one of our airsofting areas in a small town nearby. It's next to a gunrange so the ambiance is real nice! We call it "The Benches" (www.tac4airsoft.com). As I pull out my gear I note a sherrifs deputy parking, then footing it toward where we play. I can see whats going down already so I decided to approach him. Here's how it went. "Excuse me officer!" "Yes?" "I'm betting you're going down to run off the paintballers?" "Thats right!" "Ha! Well I guess I better not bother going down then cause I'm one of 'em!" "Yeah, a paintball gun is considered a deadly weapon within the city limits and this park area is inside of that." I had to smile a little at that "Oh so I'm deadly now? Hehe"...(he had a little grin about it as well as I'm 40ish, a little overweight, and about as harmless looking as it gets). Well I understand officer, you don't make the rules but when you lay down the smack it's time to vacate, my apologies. Oh by the way, it's not actually paintaball I'm going to play it's airsoft." "Oh..airsoft?" "Yessir." "Well thats different! Airsoft is just fine!" "Oh I'm sorry, I always tell people paintball cause not too many people know what airsoft is. You're welcome to check out my equipment if you like." "That won't be necessary. Are you telling me there aren't any paintballers down there?" "Well sir, all I can say for sure is about 30 of our boys are down there playing airsoft. I don't know if there's any paintballers cause I haven't been down there yet." (he stands there for a minute looking down the trail and I KNOW he doesn't want to make the climb down into the play area in those shiny shoes so I chime in again) "I'll tell you what I'll do if you want. I've got a cell phone, give me your number (by this time a city police officer had joined him) and if I SEE a paintballer down there I'll tell them what you said, and if they DON'T vacate I'll give you a call." He looked me in the eyes for a second... "Do it." he said. He gave me his phone number and walked off. The city officer did the same. And THAT is currently a big difference between airsoft and paintball in my area. later, m |
its kind of funny how in Calgary, the same group of people that complain about people not calling hits, are themselves not calling them.
Lead by example boys. |
I'm completely in agreement with the few people here who are pointing out that no matter how good you are, YOU DON'T ALWAYS HIT WHAT YOU SHOOT. I've seen it before a thousand times where some player is CONVINCED they hit another player, when I have been watching and clearly seen that not a single bb touched them. So perhaps your shot isn't good enough. Move to a better shooting position and try again.
Furhtermore, many hits are just not felt. Ex: at a game at the LZ last month, I was standing behind the bus, when a guy ran out of a cloud of smoke 30 feet in front of me. 30 feet mind you. I lit him up, bouncing maybe 5 or 6 bbs off his chest. It was plain as day to me and the other 10 players standing around watching. The guy just keeps running and then raises his rifle and shoots me. I was pretty stunned, but thought about it for a minute. The guy OBVIOUSLY wasn't trying to cheet. There were 10 witnesses less than 30 feet from us both. The bbs were bouncing off him plain as day. There is no way he would have expected to get away with it. The only logical conclusion is that he had NO IDEA he was taking hits. What did I do? Called hit and walked off the field. For EVERY time it happens to you that someone else doesn't feel a hit, it's happened to someone else that YOU don't feel it. Another game, Raven opened up on me from about 15 feet behind me through light bush. He was so close, that even though I couldn't see him (he was behind me) I started to raise my gun to call hit, assuming that he couldn't possibly miss. Then I realized I still hadn't felt anything. I turned around to look at him. He was just as stunned as I. He had emptied his mag at me, and watched EVERY SINGLE bb ( we load to 30 rds, so it's not like a hi-cap!) bounce off the thin, thin brush between him and I. He was empty, so I checked quickly that he agreed I really wasn't hit, and ran over the top of a hill which was only 10 feet away at the time. It was unbelievable, but it happened. A further time. I was involved in a firefight in a field of abandoned cars at someone's field, (maybe Foxden?). A freind of mine on the other team, Vondnik, ran out to one of the cars, opened the door, and crouched behind it for cover. Each time he popped his head up, I shot at him through the open window. Every time I watched as the bbs clearly bounced off him, hitting his face and chest, and fell to his feet. After a few mags, I could hardly believe he wasn't tripping on the pile of bbs that I knew were lieing at this feet. I was getting quite pissed, in spite of his being a friend, that he wasn't calling himself out. Finally, he hit me, and I called hit and walked over to ask him what the hell he was doing. When I got up to the car, I could see plain as day that the window was up. I'd been shooting at a closed window. Just had to laugh at my stupidity and apologize for getting so pissed off at him. My point is, in this game, shit happens. It's beyond your control. A lot more players need to just take unpredictable and unexpected things as part of the game. Someone not calling hit when you think you're hitting them? Get a better position and try again, or just shoot a few more times in case your first shot deflected off a twig 3 inches from his chest that was too small to see. The old saying "The first casualty of any battle is the plan" ( or whatever) is an excellent motto for playing airsoft. Just take it as part of the game, and overcome the problem on your end. As Gunny Highway would say: "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome!"... |
 Don't think anyone could have summarized it better Spleen. Hats off...
