are these safe for airsoft?
does anyone use these, they are the ones used by the us troops now. just says plastic, but i was wondering if they can take a bb shot.
thanks |
No, those arn't safe for Airsoft. Good to complete a look for out of action pictures though...but they arn't ballistic so won't be suitable for in game use.
|
agreed. I have one of those. Great goggles but not game safe
|

Theres ballistic insert lenses you can get for the SWD Goggles. |
would you know where?
|
the cf gets issued them.
I'm almost positive that all actual issue ones (ie not bought in the PX or canex, or surplus store) are ballistics level. Greg |
Still.... most fields will not let you use them.
They demand Paintball approved goggles only. |
they are real issue surplus. but i wont take a chance with the eyes. ill get some ballistic approved. i have some jt's for a paint field. just want a small pair for other airsoft fields
cheers |
If the lense you have for the SWD goggles say ballistic on the top, than your good, but if they don't a BB will go right through.
I would assume SWD goggles with a ballistic lense would be alright for a airsoft only field, but if your playing on a paintball field you would need paintball approved goggles. |
yeah i know i need the jt's for the paintball field. i didnt get any yet i just saw them on e bay cheap.
|
The green tinted lenses for them are the laser/ballistic protective lense.
Though the green tint might bother some ppl I find I get used to them pretty fast, and they're great goggles imo if you're in the rain without a hat. Toughest testing I've been able to do is with a 150% pdi spring and bushings upgrade in my spetz @ 2 feet and they held up fine. But like others have said some fields wont allow them anyways. |
ok mate ill get some as there cheap yes they come with 2 lenses clear & tinted. i can always use them doing some diy anyway.
thanks |
bolle now makes a tactical goggle use by us special force 2.2mm ballistic rated. thats is base on the look of the dust goggles you have showen.
pm for more info on them. |
Wiley X also makes Ballistic goggles and sunglasses. 8)
|
The ballistic insert are OK for airsoft. I tested one myself with my M24 at 450fps with .30 at point black. No dent or crack or mark on the lense.
BUT They fog like crazy and the upper part tend to crumble in your face making you look like a tard. Did I say they fog like hell?? Well, they do a lot! |
caution with the army surplus ones the original contracted ones are Ballistic rated. Open the top snap on the face of the gogs and it will be printed right on top BALLISTIC LENSE. THe regimentals sometimes get the after market out of the states and thry work fine for SWD but are flexible and easy to bend not rated at all.
I took a few Ballistic lense SWD gogs to the Drag ops range and they took the beatings of and upgraded at 10'. That's not an endorsement just an observation. One set of eyes is best to keep in mind. Cheers |
You can also get almost the exact same goggles made by G&P airsoft that have the ballistic lens 2mm . Ive seen them available at a couple of airsoft suppliers overseas and on ebay as well.

Wiley X Saber, PT-1, PT-2 Ballistic glasses work fine as long as you are moving and provide some airflow. Once you stop, there is no airflow and they will start fogging. Of course, that is if they are allowed to be used at your field....
The SG-1s have poor ventilation, but the new V-cut SG-1, should solve much of the fogging problem. |
