Best de-fogging techniques

Was wondering the best de-fogging stuff for goggles, besides the obvious fan.

Danke August 15th, 2011 00:16

A fan.

Besides a fan

HKGhost August 15th, 2011 00:31

two fans.

Danke August 15th, 2011 00:31

Maybe a thermal lens.

It really depends on the player though, if you never break a sweat even when sprinting or under stress then maybe you're OK.

If you're wearing 40+ lbs of gear in the hot sun in sweaty Ontario you may find you need a fan.

I'm in the drier part of B.C. but I use Fogtech and a fan so I can actually see what's going on.

Good air flow

Brett-18 August 15th, 2011 00:52

Well i'm using flak goggles with flow vents and they were great at first but it seems they fog all the time now. Does anyone recommend a cream?

Kishimaru August 15th, 2011 01:03

have you try anti-fog?

Brett-18 August 15th, 2011 01:05

That's kinda along the lines of my question what is the best brand? As i have used one before for a hockey visor and it made no difference.

HKGhost August 15th, 2011 01:06

Cheap method is dish soap. Wipe on, let dry then polish it up.

Is this legit or will this destroy my goggles? Even if i have to do it before every game does it work?

HKGhost August 15th, 2011 01:26

Yes it works. You can do it the day before your game.

Outcast569 August 15th, 2011 01:29

Google?

Spit and soap are your cheapest options. Most companies that sell goggles sell anti fox with them.

Also a fast search for "antifog" (first page):
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...hlight=antifog (in the FAQ...)

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...hlight=antifog

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...hlight=antifog

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...hlight=antifog (in the reviews section)

There is also ESS, Revision, Cat Crap, any ski company makes them.
Just have to actually go out and look. Try what works for you.

Personally the fog tech does nothing for me. Where as the revision stuff works great for my ESS goggles.

gunscythe August 15th, 2011 01:57

I use thermal lenses and "Fog-Tech". Works every time. At worst, in a sweaty mess, it beads and doesn't fog. I use a windex-style cleaner, and clean the inside lens, then use fogtech and coat the inside lens. Works for me.... Non-thermal lenses don't work for me using this method.

EdisLeado August 15th, 2011 02:21

Shaving cream (the traditional white foamy stuff, not the gel). Rub it on until it disappears. Try it on your bathroom mirror, you'll see how well it works.

TechSeller August 15th, 2011 10:52

FogTech is a proven solution and we sell it to many different markets outside of airsoft and paintball including military, mining and hazmat agencies. The key is to apply it exactly as instructed.

Speaking of which, I will have a cool announcement regarding this later today or tomorrow for you FogTech fans :)

blaklite August 16th, 2011 13:58

Fogtech, but in the wipes form ,I have found to be the best.

kennysteez August 16th, 2011 15:04

is their a Canadian retailer for this fog tech stuff or just their website?

Techseller is selling FogTech for a good price.
And this is a very good solution for the price.

Brett-18 August 16th, 2011 18:43

I'm trying out the shaving cream technique first. My only question is do I apply it right on and wipe off in circles? Or just keep rubbing it in?

Armyissue August 16th, 2011 18:52

When I started playing way back....

I've pissed in a team mates goggs and believe it he had no troubles with fogg the whole rest of the game, but the smell wow! shaving creams, sprays, soap, spit, nothing gets that stink out of the foam.

Its plastic. Not exacly a porus material....

Mr. G36! August 16th, 2011 21:02

Bitter-End FTW! I've been fog-free for 3 years!

SuperHog August 20th, 2011 21:31

Anti fog on the goggle lens and on our glasses if you wear them. That alone does not eliminate fogging. If you generate enough heat inside your mask, it will still fog up from your humid sweat.

Fans are the best solution along with anti fog. Your eyes will feel great if you have fans. I know this from experience. And yes, two fans are better than one.

Amos August 21st, 2011 01:34

Fogtech.

R.I.T.Z August 21st, 2011 01:46

smith optics goggles+thermal lens+fan +fog tech = no fog at all even in the high temps with gear

Lumi August 21st, 2011 03:19

By simply removing the foam that covered the top vents of my goggles I eliminated 99% of the fog issues. Fogtech takes care of the other 1% when it's a hot and high humidity day, and when it's raining.

tygr701 August 21st, 2011 10:37

I'm 50/50 with fogtech sometimes its clear other times I've had it still fog up completely after beading. Hopefully their new DX is better because there's nothing worse than not being able to see wtf is going on around you in the middle of a game.

Sgt. Cooper August 21st, 2011 13:53

u can also us shaving cream, works like a charm

RosettaStoned August 21st, 2011 14:24

Picked up some Revision reusable anti-fog cloths from Airsoftgi last week. Got good reviews, haven't personally tried it yet. I fucking hate fog.

Doesnt work for me at all... Still fog like crazy.
Very mild one won't but hot mositure, will blurr like crazy

Amos August 21st, 2011 16:56

Yea, I noticed the revision stuff is more of an oil than an alcohol

lurkingknight August 22nd, 2011 18:16

I used fogtech this weekend at hotbox... when it gets really bad though, the water just starts to condensate on the lens... problem I had is the fogtech didn't wipe on smoothly, it streaked so the water pooled and created lensing effects and distortion.

My next step is to add a fan. I want to keep the foam there because it generally keeps dust and crap out of the goggles, and getting shit in your eyes sucks... especially when you're wearing everything from facemask to glasses and then goggles.

The Tradesman August 23rd, 2011 19:51

Oakley hockey visor anti-fog spray from canadian tire. They have bauer too but its half the price. You get what you pay for and the oakley is only 9.99$. Ive used it at Hotbox and a local game and my glasses were perfect the entire time. Give it a try, its only ten bucks.

The fogtech wipe turned into a gel on my lenses because of how hot my face was. Still hasn't completely come off and the lenses are scraped from trying.

Much better than fogtech, probably the best i've used to far for preventing fog however the water doesn't bead up so much as drip.

the catshit stuff or whatever it is worked well for me not so much for stopping fog but for beading the fog. visibility ws half decent then.

I have a very hot face :P

tygr701 August 23rd, 2011 23:02

Revision fog wipes don't work well....s*** was looking to try some of those instead. Have still had the fogtech fog up completely then applied the second time and all it did was streak. Well guess I'll have to wait for the fogtech DX stuff and hope its better.

kullwarrior August 24th, 2011 01:23

For the record, the new ESS wipe works....slightly better than the Revision, However, I really think it boil down to the shape of the goggle.

The way I try how good anti-fog or goggle are is simply use it when I work out and see how bad it can fog up (I have station at home so no body will ask me why am I wearing a Helmet and goggles xD)

For the record stuff I've tried....
ESS Striker/Profile/Turbofan serious fog like crazy no matter what, I done the foam mod, use the fan on high etc.
on the other hand... ESS Advancer V12, doesn't fog, but have very minimal blur. When I took if off, the lens was pretty much soaked with sweat, it just shows it works effectively.

TechSeller August 24th, 2011 08:35

Just a reminder regarding Fogtech... do not unfold the wipe and the inside of the lens must be completely dry and clean before applying. The DX formula will be more forgiving with some moisture/dirt being present.

-Frank

The Tradesman August 26th, 2011 16:16

Im telling you guys, try the oakley visor spray from crappy tire. Works wonders and its only 10$, also you can have it in your hand that day. Oakley is top of the line and hockey players sweat WAY more than we do playing airsoft, for 10$ you cant go wrong.

reason the hockey stuff did not work is because its made for cold environments

Freeze August 26th, 2011 18:51

Try rubbing some spit on to it. If it works for swimming it should work for this....

In swimming, it works...for max 10 minutes. I don't know how you swim, but I sweat a lot when I swim.

I got C-Clear today, these are much better than Revision and ESS No Fog Cloth in my quick testing.

Exactly. I bring free "windex" and "bounty (paper cloths)" to the field, and tell people:

- windex and clean both sides of your mask.
- Fogtech the inside of your mask
- After it's applied, don't touch.

That works for all thermal masks all the time, and for single layer masks for a shorter period.

I still don't know the difference between fogtech and fogtech dx as they both work for us here. We've even tried left and right lenses, and both are similar.
