He is looking for a "realistic" AEG
I have that Tar-21 too..all it does is a slide going maybe about half way.
The bolt can only open half way too.. I rather disable it, but i need to think of resell value

Most realistic AEG's would be either the KWA ERG's or the BOLT M4's, the Bolt's have more recoil, but don't require the Bolt catch to used on an empty mag.

Otherwise get a GBBR if you really want realism.

OP is looking for AEG.

AEG may have simulated recoil and electronic sound, but it is not realism. The charging handle don't work, bolt does not open after last shot. I see so many players pull the charging handle on an AEG before they fire. Why??

The recoil from a GBBR is real because it is the bolt actually cycling, not the gears whining in a gear box and piston slamming back and forth in a gear box like a AEG.

Any thoughts on this?

Supposedly this kit allows the recoil shocks to have stronger springs.

Ripperstyle, it doesn't matter how you dress up an AEG it will never perform with realism like this ....

The most realistic AEG in my opinion

I was thinking about exactly the same thing on 2012. I was trying to avoid using gas, even on pistols.
But after buying my first GBB pistol, I brought a few more. Then a GBB SMG. Now I am thinking about buying a GBB M4.

Or better yet, this. http://eagle6.co.uk/shop/catalog/pro...-shock-series/

I've switched gears sort to speak and been looking in a different direction for an aeg. I dropped the realism for more functionality and went researching the WE M4 Katana. I love the fact I can use one gun for multiple games with multiple fps limits. I'm willing to do the necessary upgrades to it as I'm hearing the internal quality needs some upgrades to last longer. The one thing I couldn't drop from the realism I wanted was the bolt stop on last round. I REALLY want that so I heard you can install an ascu gen3+ with there hop up unit to give me the bolt stop function I want.

Will again suggest TM next gen recoil M4. If you look there's a Canadian retailer with them for sale for around $650 or so. The price is high but after you tune up a $400 AEG you'll be getting up there anyway.

Literally needs no mods other than wiring for lipo in the stock (not even this if you want to use the Marui batteries) and a new spring and you've got your amazing performance, recoil, and bolt stop.

My stock Marui shoots around 340 FPS (fine for cqb around here) and it performs beautifully, even outdoors at my regular field with lots of long ranged engagements with 400 FPS shooting guns.

Ripperstyle July 14th, 2015 10:09

So at outdoor games you don't feel your at a disadvantage with your 340fps TM? I've read that TM's shoot soft but the range and accuracy is still there because of the good hop up and barrel. Is that what you find with yours?

Drakker July 14th, 2015 10:47

FPS/power is only a small part of the range and accuracy equation. It is actually easier to make a slower projectile go straight. You wouldn't believe the accuracy you can get out of TM electric pistols at 200 FPS.

Power is irrelevant if you can get a round on target every time you shoot. I play outside with guns shooting around 1 joule (328fps with 0.2g BBs) all the time and never feel at a disadvantage. One notable advantage is that at that power level, you don't have a minimum engagement distance, so you can shoot close range without hurting other players. You don't have to switch weapon or call a freeze/bang bang/whatever. I find that when playing in woodland settings, it is a lot more useful to be able to engage close range than at extremely long range, but then again, that might just be my style of play.

Hectic July 14th, 2015 11:00

I will touch on that.
60 fps isn't going to greatly increase range and isn't going to allow the use of a significantly heavier be. For example at 400 with a good hop up you'll likely run .30 maybe a .32. At 300 you will run .25 maybe even a .28. The effective range of a .25 vs a .32 isn't all that different even at a lower energy. Now we are talking even less ~60 fps isn't gonna make much impact at all and with a well tuned hop up you can likely run the .32 in the 340 fps gun just as effectively as a 400 fps gun. Main difference will be flight time to target and it won't be by much. Without busting out the calculator I'd say maybe at max range (250-300ft or so) it'll be around 0.25-0.50 secconds
that's not that much really, my 500fps bolt action has about a 2 second flight time out to 450ft when running .40g bb's
search up the bbbastard msed and check out some of the links. The site seems broken up a bit now but Google will link u to all the info.

you can see the physics behind airsoft and how different velocities and bb weights effect range

Thanks for all the feedback I appreciate it. Posting two threads for the same question is my bad, won't happen again. It's true I was specifically asking about AEG's but it seems the options are truly few and far between which I kinda found out on my own but wanted to see what more experience players had to say about it here. I realize that GBBR would be the go-to realistic weapon platform but I'm just not interested in using gas as oppose to battery. Meh, I'll guess I'll check out the RM4 again as well as BOLT. Thanks again.

Unfortunately it is vapourware, but the real sword magnetic system was supposedly all that you wanted.
