The crappy battery will be your biggest issue. A large 8.4v of good quality would be fine, a 9.6v will give you a better ROF. I would also replace the spring guide, piston, and piston head, as well as a complete reshim and regrease.

Maybe, but the kraken already comes with a spring thats too stiff for any new player. If anything you should be downgrading it to like a M100.

Also, the first thing you should upgrade is a new battery and charger.

Both that come with the gun are complete and utter crap. Theres nothing wrong with 8.4s, but the 8.4 that comes with the kracken is really poorly made.

Yeah, Im going to be replacing the spring, gears(to MAX torque gears), poly carb piston, tight air nozzle, high quality metal bushings, and a installing a 593mm tight bore barrel. I have a fake compensator to cover up the barrel extension. I may go pick up one of those 9.6v batterys at the source which are 1000MaH 9.6v. They are only 20$ and I think i am going to try out first with the stock 8.4 then see what I need to get. I have another question. If I purchase a 9.6v battery will I be getting more torque out of the motor? Or is it just based on the motor its self?

EDIT: Also purchased a ball bearing spring guild.

I hope you know what you're doing.

From experience, and as other gundocs and vet players will tell you, mixing and matching parts is a great way to achieve very unimpressive results (unless you already know which combinations of parts work and don't work).

Also, max torque gears, while fine in themselves, will lower your ROF. You may want to get a good quality motor, instead (or in addition).

Yeah, I know pretty well what I am doing. Maybe for christmas i would like a nnew motor or something. I am very excited and I am sure they will be good together. They come in a tune up kit, so they must.

Fun upgrade platform for sure.

I bought one of these last year, and since then have put:

- metal bushings / reshimmed.
- guarder 110 spring.
- Modify tappet plate.
- Modify Air nozzle.
- Guarder hopup / bucking.
- Sysema Silent Piston(w/bearings)/cylinder head.
- Full metal ball bearing spring guide.
- Large intellect 8.4v 3800mAh battery with insulated spade connections.
- Madbull version 2 6.03 455mm barrel.

I can't remember if i did anything else to it but meh. Wanted to make a good solid little performer, been playing with it every week to every other week for a year. Shoots 360 fps right now with 0.25g, at 14 bps. OVERALL the accuracy on this gun is crazy. Need a metal body and some more solid body pieces, the screw holding the pistol grip on is currently stripped :( but the mechbox is a rock.

Could you just buy a TM Ak Gearbox because its all supposed to be compatible right?where could i buy a metal body for the Kraken?and could you get them from over seas?

Have any of you heard ANYTHING about the ak drum mag from velocity arms? I'd like to slap one of those puppies in my kraken.

The MP5 Broxa is worse than the Kraken.

yuhaoyang April 3rd, 2010 18:40

but the kraken is worse than everything except CT/Walmart stuff =.=

The kraken is shit in general. Kids go "OH GOD THIS THING IS AWESOME" because they don't have access to anything better.

Oh, wait. Nevermind. They do.
