Yup.. It's your skin/gear that deforms... when a PERSON gets hit...
however if it hit glass, plastic gun, anything that is normally harder than a standard BB... but softer than a metal BB.. the metal BB will do more damage... (But cheap aluminum is VERY soft) As for FPS limits, they are set based on a .20 gram BB, CHANGING YOUR BB WEIGHT DOES NOT EFFECT THIS LIMIT. I don't know why everywhere in canada has it set like this... Probably because the older generation of chronos didn't really focus much on Joules. Joules is how should be set... |
FPS limits are set to have 1 joule at impact at a set distance.
350fps is for CQB, since it give you about 1 joule at 10 fts using .20g. 1 joule is the standard energy rating used to set minimum engagement distance. At 1 joule, BB impact sting but don't break the skin. Over 1 joule, they can make a bleeder. So, depending on the field you play on, you could set the fps limit higher. But for general safety reason, it's capped at 400fps for AEG and 450fps for bolt action sniper rifle. 400fps (chronied with 0.20g) will give you 1.49j impact at 20 fts using 0.25g BBs. The general rule is, the heavyer the BB, the more energy it transfer to its target on impact. I don't want to get deeper than that, since it has been discussed in dept already. |
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is the advantage of having an aluminum or graphite powder on your BB? Just for sniper 'marking' or does the powder act like a solid lubricant in the barrel? Or for the weight, which'd make no sense to me seeing as these are .30s or .36s and they make much heavier weight BBs without any additives.
All I can foresee from the powder is a dirty barrel and hop-up. |
I'm honestly surprised at how many idiots do that FPS decrease with a lower weight.
It says with .20 in most cases, not .3 or some other bullshit. |

It is said that the graphite coated BB have less resistance in the barrel and travel more smootly and acuratly.
In reality, like Stalker said, they dirty up your weapon and make it inconsitent after several shots. Graphite transfer to target is not the intended use of the coating, that is almost 100% sure. |
If theirs some wierd coating (let it be graphite, alu or w/e) its usually because the BB is produce cheaply and they need to make up for it by adding weight and/or making it look nice.
Only polished BB's go in my mags and through my tightbores since i know they won't leave something behind. BB Bastards FTW :D |
Thanks Stalker and FOX, as I suspected. I'll stick to my MadBulls n' Bastards.

I saw some on shootsoft called verdict and they say that they are for marking targets with a powder but they are not graphite. This is to some degree of an intrest to me but I don't want to test them myself. Anyone know about them? Who is the shootsoft rep here? I know they get/got a bad rap but I'm certain if we spoke directly and stuff he would reassure me everything would be fine, and that makes me hope he would see to it himself... Ya the BBs, are they to new to know or duds that are being remarketed?
|
i suspect that the "verdicts" will leave gunk in your barrel aswell. polished are your best bet. You also have to factor if you can spot a bb sized paint on someone at 50ft even its going to be pretty hard even if its flouresentlike high lighters or something

They won't be allowed in our games. And they probably will fail at some point and mess up your equipment. Our equipment is not designed to shoot projectiles that contain stuff and that are friable. |
They are not paintball BBs.

Ya they seem more on par with bio bbs then paintballs but whatever, $50 is steep for 5000 .25s that may do damage. And I think the mark would be useful with a ref, I know if one of my team mates came up to me with a fresh mark I'd send him to respawn so thats another reason.
Ya ya, we could have hypothesis after hypothesis but does anyone know if such a thing was marketed before? |
nope not paintball bb's. search for Blammo Kill Marker on this site.
|
so powder coated... that sounds like a tightbores nightmare.
