The polish seems to fill in the pores in the leather and lets a lot less water through. It also adds another layer of protection to the leather. I know my magnums after two years of use are far more waterproof now then they were when I got them. I even apply the polish to the fabric.
EDIT I also suffer from massive and wide feet. I wear a 13 f in the cf boots I believe. Its been a long time since I had the cadillacs. When it comes to runners I have to get new balance in the widest they come and they just barely fit. I have used bates, magnum, bellville and most recently oakley in there wide versions and have been very happy with them. My boot pile is getting a wee bit large. |

Sha Do, try bear fat for waterproofing. It's what we used to do, and gives you a perfectly good excuse to get a gun and hunt some bear.
Or you could just by some boring old spray. Winners (the store) had Oakleys for $60. I was in the one in my town just last night. And they were tan as well. |
