I'm sure that since the site is pretty high on google rankings and whatnot that theres a lot of traffic. Would it be possible to get a coder to maybe optimize the site so that behind the scenes the site is more efficient on bandwidth and service to the users?
I'm thinking maybe an update/overhaul of the software behind the board, and maybe trimming the board down so that it's faster.
You can expect me to donate when I free up some of my cash.

You may be surprised, but we've done pretty much everything possible to slim down the forums. We're pushing over 100GB/month in gzipped PHP files alone, and there's really no way to make it any smaller. The biggest thing we're doing is the reduction in PM box size to 100, as large PM boxes take an inordinate amount of server resources when you check them.
Serving up pages on the site is an extremely streamlined operation; I've spent many hours working on the old server and the new one, tweaking Apache and MySQL to perform supremely well. A single page gets generated in literally record time, but that doesn't change the fact that we have an inordinate amount of users on the forums. Our record, from two months ago, was 2676 concurrent users. That's a serious performance goal by any standard, and on this new server, we aim to exceed it.
