Only problems I've had with KSC rubber swelling from too much oil is the M11 hop up rubber and the ones on the mags. My G19 mags (all six of them) and both my G19s are still fine.

For the original poster, what weight BB are you using? Why not go to a heavier BB (I've used up to 0.43g very well in my G19) if you are unable to 'dry out' your hopup rubber?

Sounds like you've found a new product line that you can add to your inventory MadMax. Urethane hop-up replacements! Maybe start with the hard to find hopups that are always breaking down, I.e. M11, Glocks, etc.

MadMax September 18th, 2006 12:29

I'd do it if I had better access to the HK/Jp market. My other concern is that replacement products like that are vulnerable to the moves of the GBB manufacturer. If they just get their act together and move to urethane parts, my own product line becomes obsolete/redundant. Kind of sucks when I have to invest in tooling and minimum manufacturing runs.

Im using .25s, I need it to work with .25s for XT.

Ok, I just picked up some isopropyl alcohol, but its only %70 (thats all they had) will this work?

randas September 19th, 2006 16:32

It didn't work  tried soaking it for about 15 minutes, didn't help, another hour, no improvement.

mcguyver September 19th, 2006 19:42

Did you use rubbing alcohol? It contains oils as well and may not work well for you. I have some isopropyl from a pharmacy I think, I've had it for years.

JohnnyDo September 19th, 2006 20:38

if it's only 70% on the label then that's probalby what he was useing.

mcguyver September 19th, 2006 22:10

No, that's rubbing alcohol.

randas September 19th, 2006 22:17

So what do I need to look for? 100% isopropyl alcohol? Any suggestions where to get it? I got this stuff at shoppers drug-mart, it was all they had.

JohnnyDo September 19th, 2006 22:48

any decent dollar store will have it or any drug store, or store with a drug section. it's pretty much a basic medical supply staple so you can pick it up anywhere short of the local gas station.

Get the 100% ones.

Just to let ya guys know, I did exactly what mcguyver said and it fixed both my Glock 18C and my friend's Glock 17. :D

Thanks!

I'm going to try this with my overlubed hop up rubber on my Omega 93R...I could only get 99% though.

Dirty Deeds October 22nd, 2006 20:43

I removed my hop up rubber from my ***** and the swelling went down all around. But you should have seen the hight I got from my boys while it was swelled.
